Don't dip the rabbit's rear end into water. To make the environment on the rabbit as hostile as possible to egg-laying flies, here are two rules: ![]() So we turn a watchful eye to the potential victim. Screens on doors and windows reduce the number of flies that get into the house, but some slip through.Īt best we can only reduce, but we can't eliminate flies from the environment. Repellents may work temporarily, but one must remember to use them repeatedly. PreventionRidding the environment of flies, by means of chemical insecticides may damage the environment, animals, and people along with the flies. If you are successful at removing the maggots yourself, you will still need to get your bunny checked by a veterinarian, as treatment may be necessary for shock or toxins. ![]() Most of their clients are too squeamish to do this.Ĭhemicals strong enough to destroy the maggots are often too toxic to apply to a bunny in shock. My veterinarians prefer a completely dry technique for maggot removal and pluck them by hand or tweezers. Avoid dampening any more area than necessary. Wet fur provides an environment for more eggs to hatch. It requires about three tub refills, followed by careful drying. It takes two people to do this effectively one to hold the upper half of bunny above water the other to wash out all infested areas. Rinsing them off is very difficult, but I have removed them by completely submerging the trunk in a tub of water. If the larvae are small and still few in number, you can hurry to the veterinary hospital. If the larvae are large and numerous, you have little time. Your course of action will depend on how advanced the infestation is and how far you are from your vet. In the case of fly strike, the rabbit may already be in shock. It usually means something is seriously wrong. Not all rabbits respond this way to an "attack" on the hindquarters, but if your rabbit does have a seizure, check for surface irritations. When our rabbit Velma had a seizure last year, I turned her over and found that "foxtails" had worked their way into the folds around her scent glands. Our rabbit Phoebe gave us this early warning years ago, in time to save her life. Rabbits are sensitive to surface irritations. But instead of being toxin related, these are caused by local nerve sensors on the surface of the body triggering a general or overall nerve reaction, resulting in a seizure. Warning signsSeizures: Some rabbits have "itchy skins" seizures. Once they have consumed external debris, they go right on to sound flesh (sometimes up the back where you don't see it), and once in the flesh, they produce toxins that create a state of shock. The chances are greater if the rabbit is outside, but it only takes one fly indoors to do the damage. What kind of damage? Maggots do not stop at the surface. If open sores are present, or if thick fur is dampened with urine or feces, flies will head toward these warm incubation areas to lay their eggs. They may have pasty stools or urinary problems that require frequent bathing-a problem in itself.Īttractive conditions:Moisture, warmth, and odor attract flies. Often the stricken rabbits are being exceptionally well cared for. ![]() And besides guilt, we feel anger-that something as worthy and dear to us as our rabbits can be taken down by something as loathsome as a fly. We blame ourselves for lack of vigilance. Within a 24-hour period an otherwise stable rabbit can enter a terminal state of shock due to maggot infestation.Įvery fatality reported to us last year bore with it considerable human grief and guilt. Flies can strike a healthy animal who has temporary loose stools, butat particular risk are your aging, disabled, or overweight rabbits who are not able to clean themselves. As disgusting as the subject is, we cannot ignore this eminent warm-weather danger.

The Farfisa is great for early Pink Floyd (think Piper or Echoes). ![]() You can get some great 'Dark Side of The Moon' organ tones using the Hammond. The models themselves are pretty sonically accurate. So - it doesn't sound like a lot, but when you combine all these possibilities together - the models, the drawbars, the effects and the rotary cabinet - hundreds of permutations are actually possible. Tonal shaping is, thrillingly, driven by no less than nine mini-drawbars for some primitive added synthesis fun! There's also a rotary speaker emulation that can be applied to all models, and this offers four states - off, stop, slow and fast, with a toggle switch. You get master volume, octave switch (5 switches over 37 keys, so, pretty wide), model select, vibrato/chorus with depth control, two types of percussion - not drum sounds, more like short pitched notes on a synth with the sustain turned all the way down and a fast decay and release - there is a 'length' control to determine release), and two effects - distortion and reverb. Cosmetic companies are not required to disclose exactly which chemical compound(s) their fragrance is comprised of, leaving the fun to us. A less risky cousin of SLES that nonetheless is a known skin irritant (2), and while safe if only in contact with skin for a short duration, is a completely non-nourishing ingredient. At the end of this research article I also give my thoughts on what makes a better and truly natural shampoo and give my best natural shampoo recommendations.Īfter SLES, the next major ingredient in ‘herbal essences’ shampoo is Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS). Let’s dive right into the ingredients of concern and why Herbal Essences is a shampoo we need to avoid. This is primarily a synthetic shampoo with minuscule amounts of natural extracts added for marketing purposes. But the first five key ingredients in this shampoo - and many more in the rest of the ingredients list - tell a different story. WHERE DO WE START with this “rose hips smooth shampoo”? The marketing text states this shampoo is “formulated with an infused blend of rose hips, vitamin E, and jojoba extracts,” which technically is correct, sure, as the shampoo does contains these three ingredients. Potentially Harmful Ingredients in Herbal Essences shampoo to Avoid : Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Fragrance, Sodium Benzoate, Tetrasodium EDTA, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Red 33, Yellow 5, Blue 1 And the red hue of this shampoo actually comes from the synthetic Red 33 colorant - not rose hips! Why the Herbal Essences product labeling is misleading: Harsh chemicals tied to neurotoxicity and allergic reactions compose the majority of the ingredients in Herbal Essences. If you want an easy game you can choose to only turn one card at a time, but if you want to increase the difficulty level you can choose to draw three cards at a time. There are two different ways of playing Klondike Solitaire, and it has to do with how many cards you turn over per draw from the deck of cards. This has to be followed by a black 6, then a red 5 and so on. So for example, if the top card in one of your columns is a black 8 then the only card you can put on top of that is a red 7. Every second card has to be red (diamond or heart) and every second card has to be black (club of spade). In the four piles, the cards have to be sorted by suit, but in the game itself, as in the seven columns, it’s color that matters. It has to start with an ace, and after that it’s 2, 3, 4, 5 and so on, ending with the King. However, there is a certain order in which you need to fill up the four piles containing each suit – spades, clubs, diamonds and hearts. The cards actually don’t have any value at all, as they have in other card games such as blackjack or poker, and there are no points or anything like that connected to the cards in Klondike Solitaire. This is how it works: Rank of Cardsįirst off, there is no rank between the different suits of cards. The first thing you should know is how and where you can move the cards you have face up and in the deck. How to Play Classic Solitaire – the Rulesīefore you can start sorting the cards and uncover the face-down cards you need to know the exact rules of Klondike Solitaire. Each suit of cards will have their own pile. You’ll also have four empty fields that you are supposed to sort the cards into. The rest of the cards will be found in the deck, and you can draw cards from this deck either one at a time or three at a time. ![]() 2nd column: 1 card face-up + 1 card face-down 3rd column: 1 card face-up + 2 cards face-down 4th column: 1 card face-up + 3 cards face down 5th column: 1 card face-up + 4 cards face-down 6th column: 1 card face-up + 5 cards face down 7th column: 1 card face-up + 6 cards face down This is how the cards in each of the seven stacks will be divided:ġst column: 1 card face-up. When you start the game, the cards will be divided among seven columns of cards, where only the top card in each column will be face-up while all other cards are face-down. This might seem easy enough, but of course, there is more to it than simply sorting the cards. The goal of this game is to sort a deck of cards into four piles, each consisting of one suit of cards, sorted by value. Klondike Solitaire is considered the absolute classic among Solitaire games. Nowadays the game is mostly played online, and since this is a strictly recreational game, it’s almost always free to play. ![]() This game has been around for a very long time, and although it was originally played using a physical deck of cards, many people will also remember it as one of the classic computer games. The classic Solitaire game is also known as Klondike Solitaire. Why? The gun costs $1500, and between the necessary trigger work to fix the CA trigger AND replacement of the rear sight, you are closer to $2,000. Overall, I am pleased with my Python and am not planning to sell it, but I would not buy another Python. ![]() For this price point, I had higher expectations, and many people who purchased a 2020 Python have reported better accuracy than what I am getting. Overall, I'd give the Python a B minus for accuracy (group size), it does "ok" with JHP 357 mag, but not so great with 158 SWC (both 357 velocities and 38 Special velocities), or 148 DBWC. My Ruger Redhawk can beat the Python too. The Python does not like lead projectiles as far as I can ascertain (poor accuracy with 148 DBWC 38 special, which is a staple for me), but a friend of mine who owned a few of the original Pythons told me that his vintage Pythons much preferred jacketed bullets as well. If I run this gun against my dad's S&W Model 686 (6" barrel), or my S&W Model 27 (5" barrel), the smiths both beat the Python with every load I've tried. Over-all, a very solid gun (except for the rear sight).Īccuracy? For my gun, I would say, acceptable. In terms of fit and finish, I'd say Colt did an excellent job - the gun is beautiful, I do not feel a need to replace/upgrade the grips, and the cylinder locks up super tight. If I ever bought another Python, or a new Anaconda, I'd order the Wilson sight at the same time, the Colt rear sight is unacceptable at this price point. I ended up replacing it with a Wilson Combat rear sight, and I am very happy with the Wilson product (I think I paid about $130 delivered?). there are many threads on many forums talking about the deficiencies of the rear sight. One thing I did not like about the gun is the rear sight - it's wiggly, and windage adjustments are a PITA, there's a set-screw you have to loosen. Note that, if you are coming from Glock or another mush-trigger of this genera, then the Colt SA trigger may not be too bad for you - I just have specific expectations about a SA trigger on a revolver. Last I checked, the wait to have Heffron Precision work on your Python or Anaconda is a few months. ![]() Ultimately, I sent my gun to Heffron Precision and they re-worked the DA and SA trigger, now both are superb. however, to me the SA trigger was unacceptable. Considering the test the gun has to pass, I was surprised the SA trigger was as good as it was. The SA trigger was crisp but HEAVY - this is not an indictment of Colt, as it's my understanding that they have to design the gun to pass a drop test for CA and Canada sales (and maybe MA and parts of Europe), and the gun has to be dropped with the hammer cocked back. Trigger? The DA trigger was actually not too shabby. I bought a 4" 2020 Python about a year ago. ![]() DIY Instructions and Project Credit PopSugar. Make this used-coffee candle for that person.
